Easy American Goulash Recipe

7 steps
Prep:10minCook:30min
This 30-minute dinner features spiced ground beef, hearty veggies, elbow macaroni and tomato sauce garnished with a sprinkle of parmesan cheese. You'll love this Easy American Goulash Recipe! I've adjusted the recipe a bit for my own taste and memory. Beef broth adds the beefy flavor that ground beef alone just doesn't seem to have anymore. Tomato sauce makes it heartier. More elbow Mac can be used.

Instructions

Step 1
In a large saucepan or dutch oven, drizzle oil and set it over medium heat.
Step 2
Coarsely chop the onion and add to the heated oil; sauté for 1 minute.
Step 3
Add ground beef, gently breaking up with a spatula or wooden spoon. Cook for roughly 5 to 6 minutes, or until beef is browned and no longer pink.
Step 4
Add the garlic powder, paprika, oregano, salt and pepper. Stir to disperse evenly.
Step 5
Stir in the canned tomatoes, tomato sauce and beef broth. Cover and bring to a boil. Once boiling, reduce to a simmer for 4 minutes.
Step 6
Add the elbow macaroni and cook uncovered for 8 to 10 minutes, or until noodles are tender.
Step 7
You can optionally add shredded or grated parmesan cheese, now or at the table (though this was not traditional for my own family). Cover and let stand for 5 minutes before serving.
