Rolled Sugar Cookies, With Powdered Sugar Glaze

Easy and delicious rolled sugar cookies. Great for the holidays.

Instructions
Step 1
- In a large bowl, combine sugar, butter, milk, vanilla and egg. Blend well.
Step 2
- Add flour, baking powder and salt. Mix well.
Step 3
- Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1 hour.
Step 4
- Heat oven to 400゚F.
Step 5
- On lightly flowered surface, roll out 1/3 of dough at a time to 1/8 of an inch thickness. Keep remaining dough refrigerated until needed

- Cut with flowered cookie cutters. Place 1" apart on ungreased cookie sheet. If desired sprinkle with sugar.
Step 7
- Bake for 5 to 9 minutes or until edges are lightly Brown. (If you prefer a more crunchy cookie, bake 2 minutes longer
Step 8
until the bottom is nicely browned. I find if they are baked longer they also taste a little sweeter.
Step 9
- Immediately remove from cookie sheet to cool on a cooling rack.
Step 10
- Then decorate using using my powdered sugar glaze. See recipe below.
Step 11
- In a medium bowl combine all until smooth adding milk slowly for desired consistency.
Step 12
- Separate into separate bowls and add desired food coloring. I prefer to use Wilton's gel food coloring.
