Instructions

Step 1
Preps: Bring 2 sticks butter to room temperature, zest three oranges, oven to 350 deg
Step 2
Make marmalade: Add 1.5 cups orange juice, 0.5 cups sugar, and the zest of a whole orange into a pan, reduce
Step 3
Dry ingredient bowl: Whisk 2 cups flour, 2 tsp baking powder and 0.5 tsp salt in a bowl
Step 4
Wet ingredient bowl: mix 0.75 stick butter, 0.5 cup marmalade and 0.75 cups sugar
Step 5
Wet ingredient bowl: mix in 2 eggs one by one, then 1 egg yolk, then 1.5 tsp vanilla extract, then zest of whole orange, pour in 0.75 cups milk
Step 6
Mix in half of dry ingredients
Step 7
Mix in other half of dry ingredients
Step 8
Make sure the cake wont stick on the pan, using wax paper or PAM
Step 9
Pour cake batter into pans
Step 10
Batter in oven for 25 - 30 mins at 350 deg f
Step 11
Put 8oz (cold) cream cheese in bowl, whisk with 3 cups powdered sugar
Step 12
Mix in 1/2 stick butter, zest of whole orange
Step 13
Make sure cake cools completely before cutting tops off
Step 14
Spread (diluted with water) marmalade on top, before frosting
Step 15
Frost and serve
