Spicy
Didn’t have crushed tomatoes so I used diced tomatoes and a small can of tomato sauce.
Didn’t have Diced tomatoes with green chilies so I just used a can of diced tomatoes and I used a large jalapeño instead of a medium one.
I feel it could have used that can of diced tomato with green chilies. It was too bland for me. My kids thought it could have used a little more “spice” to it too.
This recipe probably would have been “just right” if I followed the recipe and not substituted it. I read over the recipe again. Turns out I forgot to add the chili powder!!!!! Well that would make sense why it wasn’t as spicy as I had anticipated.
Made again and followed the recipe. Because I used the crushed tomatoes, it was more “chili like” than soup. Both ways taste good. I’ll definitely make this again. It’s EASY
