I made cupcakes with this recipe. Same ingredients and oven temp (around 24 minutes). Made 24 cupcakes. They were delicious!! Very moist and a party favorite.

This was delicious. I was nearly that person who skipped the coffee, DONT DO IT. I was worried you would taste it, but there is no coffee taste it just makes a flavorful and moist cake.

Hands down the best red velvet cake recipe out there. I have made this for years ever since I was a kid. I will never make another red velvet cake unless it's this recipe. Be wary of over mixing; your cake will be extremely fragile already, but over mixing will cause it to be crumbly straight out of the oven. Do not skip the coffee. I use Folgers instant coffee (I make it with water, not milk), and it helps the taste so much. I use parchment paper to get it out of the pan. No amount of letting it cool or greasing has allowed me to cake a cake out of the pan without it completely getting demolished 😅. I'm most likely doing something wrong, but I'm sticking to the parchment paper. EDIT: I have finally discovered how to make it stop sticking 🥹🥹🥹 just drown the bottom in flour, it'll be okay.

Wonderful moist & delicious cake with beautiful deep red color & great spring! Ingredients of note I used: Swans Cake flour - grocery store AmeriColor Soft Gel Paste Food Color (4.5oz bottle) - Amazon Guittard Cocoa Rouge Cocoa Powder - Amazon I substituted cake flour (remember to add 2 TBSP per 1 cup when doing this, 1 cup APF = 1 cup + 2 TBSP CF). I used 3 TBSP of cocoa powder (1 extra, would use up to 4 TBSP). When using this food coloring gel, it's like a concentrate, I only needed about a 1/4oz per cake. (Can provide photo of the cakes prior to frosting for color reference upon request.)
