Instructions
Step 1
In a medium frying pan melt 50g of the butter over medium heat-high heat. Add onion & cook, stirring for 2 minutes until it starts to brown. Add the sliced apples and sauce for a further 3 minutes until the apples and onions begin to caramelise.

Step 2
Add the maple syrup and cinnamon and reduce heat to medium. Cook for another 5 minutes until apples are just tender.
Step 3
Remove the apple mix from the pan & set aside to cool
Step 4
Begin assembling your sandwiches by lightly buttering one side of each slice of bread.
Step 5
On four of the unbuttered sides, place two slices of cheese , then a quarter of the apple mix, then another two slices of cheese.
Step 6
Place the other slices on top, buttered sides up.
Step 7
In a frying pan or sandwich press, toast the sandwiches until the cheese has melted and both sides are golden.
