Korean Corn Dog Hack (w/ crescent rolls)

13 steps
Prep:10minCook:5min
Making Korean corn dogs with crescent rolls is a delicious and simple hack! The amount of hot dogs or mozzarella cheese required depends on the number of crescent rolls. Typically, it takes about two crescent roll triangles to fully encase one Korean corn dog. I opted for a block of mozzarella cheese, slicing it into rectangles to match the size of my hot dogs, though string cheese can be an excellent alternative as well! You can top your Korean corn dogs with whatever you want! Typically, they're topped with sugar and some sort of sauce but you can also top them with parmesan cheese, mustard, mayo, garlic butter, everything bagel seasoning, chopped scallions, spicy mayo, and sesame seeds.

Instructions

Prepare the ingredients:

Step 1
If using hot dogs (with cheese combo), cut them in half.
Step 2
If using cheese sticks (with hot dog combo), cut them to the same length as the hot dogs.
Step 3
Insert skewers or wooden sticks into the hot dogs, cheese sticks, or a combination (half hot dog, half cheese stick).

Wrap with Crescent Rolls:

Step 4
Open the can of crescent roll dough and separate it into triangles.
Step 5
Take two triangles of dough and wrap it around the skewered hot dog or cheese stick. Make sure to cover it completely and seal the edges well to prevent any cheese from leaking out during frying.

Roll in Panko:

Step 6
Prepare an egg wash by beating together 2 eggs.
Step 7
Roll the Korean corn dogs into the egg wash and then into the panko breadcrumbs.

Heat the oil:

Step 8
Pour oil into a deep frying pan or pot. Heat it to about 350°F (175°C).

Fry the Corn Dogs:

Step 9
Carefully place the wrapped skewers into the hot oil. Fry them until they are golden brown and crispy, which should take about 3-5 minutes.
Step 10
Remove them from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.

Toppings:

Step 11
For a sweet and savory twist, you can sprinkle or roll the fried corn dogs in sugar while they are still warm.
Step 12
Top with ketchup, sweet thai chili sauce or your sauce of choice.
Step 13
Enjoy!
