Instructions
Step 1
Prepare the Chow Mein Sauce: In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, brown sugar, sesame oil, cornstarch, and chicken broth or water until well combined. Set aside.
Step 2
Cook the Noodles: Cook the chow mein noodles according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Step 3
Stir-Fry the Chicken: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large wok or skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sliced chicken breasts and stir-fry until cooked through and no longer pink, about 5-6 minutes. Remove the chicken from the wok and set aside.
Step 4
Prepare the Vegetables: In the same wok or skillet, heat the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the minced garlic and ginger, and stir-fry for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Add the sliced onion, red bell pepper, julienned carrot, and thinly sliced cabbage. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are crisp-tender.
Step 5
Combine the Ingredients: Return the cooked chicken to the wok. Add the cooked chow mein noodles and bean sprouts to the wok, tossing everything together until well combined.
Step 6
Add the Sauce: Pour the prepared Chow Mein Sauce over the chicken and noodles in the wok. Toss to coat evenly and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken and coat the ingredients.
Step 7
Garnish and Serve: Remove the Chicken Chow Mein from the heat. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds, if desired. Serve hot and enjoy the delicious flavors of this homemade stir-fry dish!
