Instructions
Step 1
- In a medium pot, heat sesame oil over medium heat.
Step 2
- Add the sliced onion, minced garlic, and ginger. Sauté until the onion is soft and fragrant, about 3-4 minutes.
Step 3
- Pour in the 2 cups of water and add the chicken bouillon, soy sauce, and mirin.
Step 4
- If using, add the miso, sugar and dashi packet. Stir until everything is fully dissolved.
Step 5
- Bring the broth to a gentle simmer and let it cook for about 10 minutes.
Step 6
- While the broth is simmering, boil the egg in a small pot of water for about 6-7 minutes for a soft-boiled egg or 9-10 minutes for a hard-boiled egg.
Step 7
- Once cooked, transfer the egg to a bowl of cold water to stop the cooking process. Peel and slice in half.
Step 8
- In a separate pot, cook the ramen noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
Step 9
- Add the cooked ramen noodles to a large serving bowl.
Step 10
- Pour the hot broth over the noodles.
Step 11
- Place the chopped meat on top of the noodles.
Step 12
- Add the halved egg, green onions, and nori strips if using.
