Instructions
Step 1
Mix wasabi paste, soy sauce, sake, mirin, sugar, and honey in a small bowl. Set aside.

Cut beef steak into bite-sized pieces, season with salt and pepper. Heat a frying pan on high.

Coat beef lightly with potato starch.
Step 4
Add oil to the hot pan, then add beef and sear on one side.
Step 5
Once browned, add the sauce and stir-fry until slightly thickened and glossy. Turn off heat immediately. (Tip: For well-done beef, sear both sides before adding sauce.)
Step 6
Divide cooked Japanese short-grain rice and shredded cabbage into serving bowls.
Step 7
Add beef and leftover sauce to bowls. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds. Add extra wasabi if desired.
