Gyudon is a Japanese dish consisting of a bowl of rice topped with beef and onion simmered in a mildly sweet sauce flavored, soy sauce and mirin.

Instructions
Step 1
Cut the onion into thin slices, and set them aside.
Step 2
Heat a large frying pan over medium-high heat and add oil.
Step 3
Add beef and cook until no longer pink.
Step 4
Add water, sugar, mirin, sake, and soy sauce to boil.
Step 5
Add onion on top, and cover to cook until tender.
Step 6
Serve the meat and sauce over cooked rice, and put benishoga (Red pickled ginger) on top.
