Instructions

Step 1
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and cover a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Step 2
Spread out the puff pastry on a surface with a little flour until it forms a rectangle.
Step 3
Place the ingredients one on top of the other.
Step 4
If you are using it, put a thin layer of Dijon mustard on the pastry.
Step 5
Put the ham slices evenly on top of the dough.
Step 6
Put the grated cheese over the ham, making sure it covers the surface evenly.
Step 7
Begin rolling the puff pastry tightly from one of the long sides into a log. Close the edge by pressing softly.
Step 8
Put the rolled dough in the fridge for 10 to 15 minutes. This helps with cutting.
Step 9
Cut the cold roll into pieces that are 1/2 inch thick using a sharp knife.
Step 10
Place the slices on the baking sheet, making sure there is room between each one.
Step 11
Whisk the egg in a small bowl and spread it on the top of the pinwheels. Add Italian seasoning or parsley if you like.
Step 12
Cook in the oven that has been preheated for 15-20 minutes, or until the pinwheels are golden brown and puffed up.
