Instructions

Step 1
In a mixing bowl, combine the milk, orange juice, and fresh yeast.

Add the sugar, eggs, and orange zest, and mix well.

Gradually stir in the flour, mahleb, and salt until incorporated.

Add the butter and knead the dough for 20 minutes, until smooth and elastic.

Cover the dough and let it rest for 30 minutes.

Place a coin wrapped in foil into the dough, then transfer it to a buttered baking pan.

Allow the dough to rise in a warm place for 3 to 4 hours, or until it doubles in size.

Brush the top with egg wash and sprinkle with almonds.

Bake in a preheated oven at 190°C (375°F) for 30 to 35 minutes, until golden brown.
