Instructions
Step 1
1. **Cook the pasta:** Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Step 2
2. **Prepare the sauce:** In a large pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until translucent. Add the minced garlic and cook for another 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
Step 3
3. **Cook the prawns:** Add the raw prawns to the pan and cook until they turn pink and opaque, about 3-4 minutes. Remove the prawns from the pan and set them aside.
Step 4
4. **Make the sauce:** In the same pan, add the can of San Marzano tomatoes, breaking them up with a spoon. Add the pasta sauce and heavy cream, stirring to combine. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer and cook for about 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
Step 5
5. **Combine:** Return the cooked prawns to the pan and stir to coat them in the sauce. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Step 6
6. **Serve:** Toss the cooked pasta with the creamy prawn sauce until well coated. Garnish with fresh basil leaves and grated Parmesan cheese if desired.
