Fuck-around-&-find-out chicken goulash

6 steps
Prep:15minCook:45min
In case it wasn't obvious, the key to this banger are ingredients from the pepper family. Tip for less washing-up: cook the rice first and make the stew in the same saucepan. It's fine if the rice cools down, because you'll heat it up by smothering it in the sauce.

Instructions

Step 1
Plan a generic chicken & rice.
Step 2
Start boiling the rice (10-12 mins) and prepping the chicken and realise that unless you make some gravy, this dinner will be dry as fuck.
Step 3
Suddenly, you remember a recent successful attempt at an irresistible Hungarian sauce. To make it, soften the carrots, onion and garlic in some oil in a medium saucepan. Then, add the stock cube with some boiling water. Add the peppers and seasoning (don't spare the paprika) and leave the mixture on a medium heat, stirring occasionally. The water should cover the veg.
Step 4
Cook the chicken with paprika, salt & pepper (15 mins maybe?). You might need to add more oil. If it secretes juices (a couple mins in), pour most of them into the saucepan. Otherwise, the chicken will take longer to fry.
Step 5
When the chicken is cooked, add it to the saucepan with 1 tbsp of tomato puree. Stir and boil for another 5-10 mins.
Step 6
To give the sauce some graviness, separately mix the flour with some cold water and pour into the saucepan. Immediately stir and keep on the heat for ONLY ONE MINUTE.
