Ingredients
4 servings

1 TbspExtra virgin olive oil

1 TbspGarlic
finely chopped

1can black beans
drained and rinsed

1 tspcumin

2 tspHot sauce

4torta rolls

4slices white cheese
mild, such as mozzerella or provolone

1tomato
sliced

avocado
sliced

red onion
Small, thinly sliced, optional

pickled jalapeños
Sliced, optional

Canola oil
optional, for frying/pressing

½ cupWater
Instructions
Step 1
If using a grill or sandwich press, preheat.
Step 2
In a small saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat, then add garlic until aromatic about 30 seconds. Add thr black beans and mash with a potato master until mostly smooth. Add cumin, hot sauce, and the water. Simmer stirring occasionally, until mixture has thickened. Salt to taste.

Step 3
Slice rolls with serrated knife, keeping the final edge intact. Divide/spread bean mixture evenly among the 4 rolls. Top with cheese ,tomato, avocado, onion, and jalapeños.
Step 4
Heat in a sandwich press for 5 min until cheese has melted; OR, add canola oil to a large skillet on medium heat. Add sandwiches and place a heavy pan or other weight on top, and grill about 5 min until cheese is melted. Slice sandwiches in half and enjoy!
