Scallion Tofu 葱烧豆腐

Instructions

Step 1
to cut tofu, first cut tofu in half into two squares and then slice diagonally to cut each square into two big triangle chucks. Then slice into thick triangle pieces (roughly five pieces per chunk).
Step 2
Fry green onion diamonds and star anise in scallion oil on medium until nicely browned. Take out and set aside. If you have left over green onion crisps, could skip this.
Step 3
pan fry tofu until golden brown on both sides.
Step 4
put in soy sauce and sugar, mix well.
Step 5
put 1 cup of water and chicken flavoring. Return browned green onion. Cook on medium high for 5 min
Step 6
put corn starch slurry and coat with sauce.
Step 7
garnish with more scallion oil and freshly chopped green onion.
