Instructions

Step 1
Place 190 g (1 cup) of brown basmati rice in a fine mesh strainer and rinse under cold running water for 30–60 seconds, until the water runs mostly clear.
Step 2
Transfer the rinsed rice to the rice cooker pot.
Step 3
Pour in 480 ml (2 cups) of water. If you prefer softer rice, use up to 530 ml (2¼ cups).
Step 4
Add 130–150 g (1 cup) of frozen mixed vegetables directly on top of the rice. Do not stir. No need to thaw the vegetables.
Step 5
Add 3 g (½ tsp) salt, 14 g (1 tbsp) oil or butter, and any optional seasonings such as 1 g garlic powder, 0.5 g black pepper, or 5 ml soy sauce. These will enhance the flavor.
Step 6
Close the lid and start the rice cooker using the “Brown Rice” or regular “Cook” function, depending on your model. Let it cook undisturbed.
Step 7
Once cooking completes, allow the rice to sit for 5–10 minutes on the “Keep Warm” setting. This helps the rice finish steaming and improves texture.
Step 8
Open the lid, gently fluff the rice with a fork or rice paddle, mixing the vegetables throughout. Serve hot as a side or main dish.
