Instructions
Step 1
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Step 2
Cut chicken breasts in half horizontally lengthwise.
Step 3
Place each chicken breast between two pieces of plastic wrap or parchment paper. Use a meat mallet or rolling pin to pound each breast to about 1/2-inch thickness.
Step 4
Season each chicken breast with garlic, onion powder, salt and pepper on both sides.
Step 5
Layer a slice of ham and a slice of cheese on top of each chicken breast, then carefully roll them up tightly from one end to the other. Secure the ends with toothpicks to prevent them from unrolling.
Step 6
Heat a frying pan over medium heat and add a tablespoon of olive oil or melted butter. Once hot, sear the chicken rolls for about 30 seconds on each side until lightly browned.
Step 7
Transfer the seared chicken rolls to a baking dish. Drizzle with additional olive oil or butter and bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the cheese is melted.
Step 8
During the last 15 minutes of baking chicken, prepare the sauce.
Step 9
Heat a saucepan on medium heat. Add butter until fully melted.
Step 10
Add heavy cream and Better Than Bouillon and whisk until smooth.
Step 11
Sauce will thicken as it cooks but you can add corn starch for thicker sauce.
Step 12
Do not overcook sauce to the point of separating.
Step 13
Remove chicken from oven and let rest for about 5 minutes. Plate the chicken and pour a generous amount of sauce over it before serving.
