Instructions
Step 1
Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat.
Step 2
Brown the sausage slices for a few minutes, then remove and set aside.
In the same pot, cook the chicken until lightly browned. Remove and set aside.
Step 3
Add onion, bell pepper, and celery. Cook until softened (about 5–7 minutes).
Stir in garlic and chili, cook for 1 minute.
Step 4
Add crushed tomatoes, chicken broth, Worcestershire sauce, and all spices. Mix well.
Step 5
Return sausage and chicken to the pot. Bring to a simmer.
Step 6
Add rice, stir, then reduce heat to low. Cover and cook for 20–25 minutes, until rice is tender.
Step 7
(Optional) Add shrimp during the last 5 minutes of cooking.
Step 8
Taste and adjust salt, pepper, and spice level.
