Instructions

Step 1
1. Preheat and Prep: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly spray a 9x13-inch baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
Step 2
2. Mix the Sauce: In a large mixing bowl, combine the sour cream, condensed cream of chicken soup, and the dry Ranch seasoning packet. Stir until smooth.
Step 3
3. Combine Chicken and Fillings: Fold the cooked chicken, 1 cup of the cheddar cheese, and half of the crumbled bacon into the sour cream mixture until everything is evenly coated.
Step 4
4. Layer the Casserole: Spread the chicken mixture evenly into the bottom of your prepared baking dish.
Step 5
5. Add the Tots: Arrange the frozen tater tots in a single, tight layer across the top of the chicken mixture.
Step 6
6. Bake: Bake uncovered for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the tater tots are golden brown and crispy, and the sauce is bubbling around the edges.
Step 7
7. The Cheesy Finish: Remove the casserole from the oven. Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of cheddar cheese and the rest of the crumbled bacon over the hot tater tots. Return to the oven for an additional 5 minutes, or until the cheese is completely melted.
Step 8
8. Garnish and Serve: Top with sliced green onions if desired, let it cool for a few minutes to set, and serve.
