Mix your egg, Parmesan and black pepper together in a jug

Drizzle oil in a pan and add your crushed garlic clove

Toss in your bacon lardons and cook until crispy, leaving the bacon fat in the pan

Turn the heat off the pan and add in your cooked pasta, ensuring to transfer some of the starchy pasta water

Pour in your egg and Parmesan mixture and mix quick, making sure not to scramble the egg
