For the stuffing
0.5 lbground beef
0.5 lbground sausage
1 cuprice
cooked
0.5white onion
small diced
1 headcabbage
1egg
¼ cupparsley
1 teaspoonminced garlic
1 teaspoonsalt
½ teaspoonblack pepper
cooking spray
For the sauce
Instructions
Step 1
Bring large pot of salted water to a boil
Step 2
In a saucepan, melt butter and add onion. Cook till translucent add garlic, crushed tomatoes, and tomato sauce. Bring to a simmer and add salt/pepper
Step 3
Once water is boiling, put head of cabbage in and cook for 5 minutes. Peel off 12 large layers of cabbage and cut a “V” to remove the thick stem areas. Cut a small “v” on the top of layer also to make rollable
Step 4
Place the ground beef, rice, onion, garlic, salt, pepper, 2 tablespoons of parsley and egg in a bowl. Add 1/2 cup of the tomato sauce to the bowl. Stir to combine.
Step 5
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Step 6
Shape 1/3 of a cup of the meat mixture into a log shape and place in the center of a cabbage leaf. Roll the cabbage leaf around the meat mixture. Repeat with remaining meat and cabbage leaves.
Step 7
Coat a 9"x13" pan with cooking spray. Place 1/2 of the tomato sauce in the bottom of the baking dish. Place the cabbage rolls, seam side down, in the dish. Top with remaining sauce.
Step 8
Bake for 75-90 minutes
