BBQ BEANS
4 steps
Prep:1minCook:5min
Baked beans are an absolute staple food for so many of us, and our homemade alternative has a smoky BBQ twist. Full of fibre to keep you feeling fuller for longer, you can use them just like regular baked beans. Try them on toast, piled on top of a baked potato or alongside your favourite fakeaway.

Ingredients
4 servings
1 x 400gtin haricot beans
drained and rinsed
1 x 400gtin kidney beans
drained and rinsed
300gpassata
1 tsprelish
or Worcestershire sauce
2 Tbspbalsamic vinegar
1 ½ tspsmoked sweet paprika
1 ½ tsponion granules
½ tspgarlic granules
½ tspenglish mustard powder
½ tspgranulated sweetener
1 tspground coriander
sea salt
freshly ground black pepper
Instructions
Step 1
Put all the ingredients in a saucepan and mix well. Place over a medium heat and cook for 5 minutes, stirring, or until piping hot throughout.
Step 2
Serve with a main of your choice.
Step 3
TIPS: Try adding a little chilli powder or hot sauce for some heat. Don’t confuse onion granules for onion salt – the dish will be far too salty if you use the wrong one! The same applies to garlic granules.
Step 4
SWAP THIS: You could use a regular tin of baked beans instead of haricot beans in this dish. Just reduce the passata to 250g and leave out the sweetener. Remember it will increase the calories a little, to about 204 kcal per serving.
