2garlic cloves

⅓ cupplain flour
800mlbeef stock
200gbacon
italian herbs

Instructions
Pie Mix
Step 1
Chop chuck steak into chunks. Then season with salt and pepper
Step 2
Sear beef and once done, take beef and juices out of pan
Step 3
Add onion and garlic (finely chopped) to pan and cook for 2 mins. Add 1 finely chopped carrot to pan and cook for 5-6 mins until softened. Then add 3 carrots (cut into chunks) and cook for further 2 mins

Add flour
Step 5
Add beef stock to pan and mix with flour to thicken

Add beef back and add Italian herbs
Step 7
For stove cooking:
- Simmer gently for up to 2 hrs (1hr 45 min)
For pressure cooker:
- High meat setting for 30-40 mins

Cool bacon and then add to pie filling

Simmer for 15 minutes, uncovered

If sauce is not thick enough, add more flour

Preheat oven for 200°C

Blind bake shortcut pastry for up to 10 mins at 200°C

Pour pie filling into oiled baking tray and top with puff pastry
Step 14
Cut 4-5 slits in puff pastry
Step 15
Coat top with egg yolk wash
Step 16
Cook for 30-35 mins in oven until golden brown
