Ingredients

1whole chicken
boiled and deboned
½ cupcelery
chopped
½ cupcarrot
chopped
2 sprigsparsley
fresh
1bay leaf
½ tspsalt
¼ tspblack pepper
Dumplings:
1 ½ cupflour
2 tablespoonsparsley
chopped
2 teaspoonbaking powder
2 dashesnutmeg
⅔ cupmilk
2eggs
2 tablespoonsvegetable oil
Gravy:
Instructions
Step 1
Boil chicken with celery, carrots, parsley, bay leaf, salt and pepper. Remove chicken and debone cut into bite size pieces.
Step 2
Combine flour, parsley, baking powder, salt, nutmeg, milk, eggs, and vegetable oil. Drop batter by tablespoonful into simmering broth. Cover and simmer 12-15 minutes. Do not lift the lid while simmering. Remove dumpling and vegetables.
Step 3
Strain broth reserving 4 cups for gravy. Place reserved broth in a sauce pan and bring to a boil. Combine flour, water, salt, and pepper until smooth. Gradually stir into broth. Cook and stir over medium heat for 2 minutes or until thickened. Pour over chicken , dumplings and vegetables.
