Instructions
For the Masala
Step 1
Roast everything under the ‘Masala’ don’t burn it just roast it this will enhance its flavour.
Step 2
In a bowl, add the beef cubes along with salt and ginger garlic paste. Marinate for at least 15 mins. Make a paste of green chillies, garlic, one spring curry leaves and 4 tbsp coriander leaves. Apply this paste to the beef. Marinate for another 30 mins.
Step 3
In another pan, add 2 tbsp oil and add onions and coconut. Fry till nicely browned. Cool completely.
Step 4
To the cooled coconut and onion mixture, add the Xacuti masala and turmeric powder.
Step 5
Grind this mixture with sufficient water to a fine paste. Leave it aside.
Step 6
In a pressure cooker, add 2 tbsp oil and add the marinated beef. Cook for 5 mins till you see the juices of the meat come out. Add ½ cup water and close pressure cooker and cook for 2 whistles, lower flame and cook for another 10 mins till meat is well cooked.
Step 7
In a vessel, add 3 tbsp oil and fry the remaining ½ onion along with one spring curry leaves.
Step 8
Cook till onion is soft. Then add the grounded masala paste. Cook for 2 mins.
Step 9
Add the cooked meat from pressure cooker.
Step 10
Cook for another 10 mins. garnish coriander leaves. Serve with Rice or pao.
