Instructions
Step 1
You don’t need to do too much to prepare asparagus properly. This is how I do mine on the stovetop with perfect results every time.

Wash asparagus
Step 3
Snap the ends off to discard the ‘woody’ bits
Step 4
Place asparagus in a large skillet with ½ cup water and a pinch of salt
Step 5
Cover with a lid
Step 6
Bring to a boil
Step 7
Turn the heat off and let the collecting steam cook the asparagus for 5-10 minutes (depending on the thickness of the stalks and how tender you like your asparagus) The worst thing you can do to asparagus is overcook it! Err on the side of underdone if you’re unsure.
Step 8
Toss stalks with a little butter, salt and pepper for serving.
