Eggplant side dish (Mild version)

5 steps
Cook:10min
Today's dish that I'd like to introduce is none other than "gaji namul" (steamed eggplant side dish)! It's delicious when eaten with warm rice, and if you add a little bit of gochujang (red chili paste) and a touch of sesame oil and mix it with rice, it becomes absolutely delicious! How about giving this healthy eggplant dish a try today?

Instructions

Step 1
1. Slice 1 green onion thinly and chop 2 cloves of garlic. Cut the red chili pepper in half and slice it thinly.
Step 2
2. Trim the ends of the eggplants. Cut them in half lengthwise and then into bite-sized pieces.
Step 3
3. When the water is boiling, place the eggplants in a steamer. Steam them for about 4 minutes. After 4 minutes, take them from the steamer and let them cool slightly.
Step 4
4. How to make seasoning sauce: In a bowl, add 2 tablespoons of soy sauce for the soup (gukganjang), 1 tablespoon of tuna fish sauce or fish sauce, 1 tablespoon of sesame oil, 1/2 tablespoon of minced garlic, 1 teaspoon of sugar or honey, the sliced green onion and red chili pepper, and 1 tablespoon of ground sesame seeds. Mix the seasoning sauce well.
Step 5
5. Place the eggplants in the seasoning sauce bowl. Gently mix them together. If some of the eggplants are large, you can tear them in half. Transfer the dish to a serving plate.
