Instructions

Step 1
Grease a 23cm cake tin with oil, then sprinkle with the tablespoon of caster sugar. Preheat the oven to 180°C/Gas Mark 4.

Step 2
Beat the eggs with the sugar until very pale and thick, then mix in the sunflower oil. Sift the flour and fold it into the mixture with a large metal spoon. Pour the mixture into the prepared tin and bake for about 35 minutes or until spongy to the touch.
Step 3
When the plava is done, remove it from the oven and leave to cool in the tin for about 10 minutes before turning it out onto a wire rack.
