Ingredients
4 servings
2portobello mushrooms
chopped
3cloves of garlic
1scotch bonnet
or mild red chilli
1onion
medium, chopped
1 Tbsplight soy sauce
1 tspdark soy sauce
1 tspMSG
optional
1 tspwhite sugar
1 tspsesame oil
1 Tbspvegetable oil
limes
2 stalksspring onion
chopped
1 headiceberg lettuce
or romaine lettuce
1ginger
thumb sized, minced
1 Tbspshaoxing wine
optional
Instructions
Step 1
In a pestle and mortar, add garlic, scotch bonnet and salt. Pound the ingredients until you have a rough paste.
Step 2
In a wok on high heat, add vegetable oil. Add in onions and pepper garlic paste and stir fry for 2 mins or until onions are translucent. Add in the mushrooms and cook for 3 mins or until it has shrunk.
Step 3
Add in the light soy sauce, white sugar, ginger, MSG, sesame oil and dark soy sauce. Stir together until well combined. Remove from heat.
Step 4
Arrange the lettuce leaves on a plate and place 1 tbsp of mushroom in the lettuce cup. Garnish with spring onions and lime. Enjoy!
