This old time recipe wont let you down. Prepping broth in a slow cooker while you're at work and then only 20 mins to put together will allow you and your family to enjoy old style taste in modern time restraints.
To give it even a better kick, you can add either barley, noodles, or rice to experience a totally different soup but still the amazing taste.

Ingredients

For the broth
1whole chicken
1onion
1garlic bulb
whole
celery leaves
1 Tbssalt
1 Tbsrosemary sprig
or
2 tspthyme
15pepper corns
whole
3green onions

Instructions
Step 1
In morning add all (broth) ingredients into a slow cooker. Fill with water after all ingredients are in. Set for low at 8 hours or High for 4 hours.
Step 2
Remove chicken from slow cooker and set aside to cool
Step 3
Strain slow cooker contents into large bowl

Step 4
Poor strained broth into large pan and add Worcestershire sauce and cornstarch. Broth should be 2 quarts of liquid, if not add water to equal 2 quarts ( set aside)
Step 5
Add into broth, garlic cloves from strainer plus 4 fresh cloves.
Step 6
Place pan on stove at medium heat occasionally stirring unto low boil then stir until slightly thick. This is a soup and not at stew so it should leave a residue on spoon.
Step 7
While waiting for broth to boil, remove meat from chicken. Cut large peices in one inch pieces.
Step 8
Cut 2 green onions in small slivers
Step 9
After broth has been thickened add meat, green onions and vegetables, barley, rice or noodles if desired. Add salt to taste
