Homemade Waffles

10 steps
Prep:10minCook:30min
This recipe creates perfect waffles with buttery crisp edges that yield to a fluffy interior. For easy weekday breakfast, freeze leftovers and pull out. Much tastier than frozen toaster waffles! To save even more time, mix the dry ingredients together and store in an air-tight container to pull out and use like a boxed waffle mix. Instructions

Step 1
Preheat waffle griddle.
Step 2
In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. This can also be stored and made ahead for later.
Step 3
In a small bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
Step 4
Pour the milk mixture into the flour mixture and whisk until combined. Let sit for several minutes while iron heats up.
Step 5
Spray waffle iron with baking spray before the FIRST batch only. Ladle into preheated waffle iron and cook until golden brown.
Step 6
Serve and enjoy.

Freeze Waffles

Step 7
Let all waffles cool completely.
Step 8
Transfer to freezer bags with a sheet of wax paper between layers of waffle to prevent sticking. Store in the freezer until ready to use.

Reheat Frozen Waffles

Step 9
Place individual waffle in a toaster or toaster oven and heat until cooked through.
Step 10
Waffles can also be reheated by putting frozen waffles in a 350 degree oven. Cover the waffles loosely with foil to keep from drying out as they heat.
