Ingredients

1 poundground beef
½ teaspoonsalt
black pepper
1 ouncetaco seasoning
packet, or about 3 1/2 tablespoons homemade taco seasoning
2 cupswater
1 cupmild salsa
jarred
8 ouncesrotini pasta
uncooked
1 ½ cupsshredded Mexican-style cheese
tomatoes
optional, toppings, chopped
avocado
optional, toppings
tortilla chips
optional, toppings, crushed
cilantro
optional, toppings, chopped
Instructions
Step 1
Preheat a large deep skillet over medium heat.
Step 2
Add ground beef and season with salt and pepper.
Step 3
Cook, stirring occasionally until cooked thoroughly.
Step 4
Drain grease.
Step 5
Stir taco seasoning into ground beef then stir in water, salsa and pasta noodles.
Step 6
Bring mixture to a boil.
Step 7
Stir, cover and reduce heat to a simmer.
Step 8
Cook for about 15 minutes until pasta is tender.
Step 9
Turn off heat and stir in cheese.
Step 10
Season with additional salt and pepper if needed.
Step 11
Serve with optional toppings if desired.
