Instructions
Step 1
Set the oven rack to the lower-middle position and set oven to broil. Line large baking sheet with foil and lightly grease with olive oil. Set aside.
Step 2
In a large bowl, add ground beef, eggs, breadcrumbs, parmesan, spinach, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Use hands to mix until combined.
Step 3
Roll ground beef mixture between hands, forming meatballs about the size of an egg. Evenly space meatballs on baking sheet (there should be about 14 to 15 meatballs).
Step 4
Broil the meatballs in oven until surface is browned, about 10 to 12 minutes. Turn over and cook for an additional 2 to 3 minutes to lightly brown the other side.
Step 5
Transfer the meatballs to cooking pot and cover with sauce. Cover pot with the lid slightly ajar and simmer on low heat for at least 1 ½ hours, checking and stirring every 20 minutes, or as needed. The meatballs should be fork tender when sliced.
Step 6
Bring pot of salted water to a boil and cook spaghetti until al dente.
Step 7
Serve meatballs with spaghetti topped with sauce, sliced basil, and parmesan cheese.
