Today, I’m excited to share a very unique toast recipe that is very popular in Korea. With simple ingredients we normally have in the cupboard,we can easily make something everybody would love. The name is “Cereal Toast”, but it is also called “Drug Toast” (마약 토스트, MaYak Toast) in Korean since it is so addictively delicious. So then, let’s get started! 😉

Instructions

Step 1
First, we need 2 slices of normal bread that you can find in the local grocery store. You can easily double or triple this recipe if that is what you desire ~~~
Step 2
So, here is the key ingredient for this recipe, Frosted Flakes. We will use about 1 generous cup of it for the toast.
Step 3
Put the cereal in a zipper bag and gently crush them with a rolling pin or any other cooking tool you can pick. Just make sure that you don’t crush them too much or you will loose the crunchiness for your toast.
Step 4
Put the crushed cereal on a wide-bottomed dish and set it aside.
Step 5
In another wide bottomed dish, break one egg and whisk it roughly. Then, add 2 Tbsp of milk and 2 pinches of salt to spice up the egg.
Step 6
Mix everything well.
Step 7
Put 1 Tbsp of salted butter on a pre-heated pan. My cast iron pan is a perfect skillet for this.
Step 8
While the butter is melting, quickly coat both sides of the bread with the egg mixture. It should be barely be covering the surface.
Step 9
It is very important not to put too much egg on the bread, otherwise the toast can be mushy and soggy, which we probably don’t want.
Step 10
Now put the bread on the cereal dish and cover both sides of the bread evenly with the cereal pieces. Repeat the same process, only this time on the the other slice.
Step 11
Put the cereal covered bread on a pan and fry it for 3 minutes on medium-low.
Step 12
3 minutes later, flip the bread and fry for another 3 minutes. It is also important to cook it in a lower temperature so the inside of the bread will be cooked enough and and the outside will not get burned easily.
