Instructions
Step 1

Peel and core the pears. Cut them into cubes.

Step 2

In a pan melt butter with sugar, add pears, nutmeg, cinnamon and vanilla. Mix to coat and let the pears caramelise for 8-10 minutes on medium-low heat. Set aside to cool.

Step 3
Preheat oven to 190C

Step 4
For the egg wash, mix egg yolk with milk and set aside.

Step 5

Unfold the puff pastry and using a large pumpkin-shaped cookie cutter cut out 4 pumpkins.
Step 6

Transfer 2 pumpkins to the baking tray lined with parchment and place about 1 to 2 tbsp of pear filling in the middle of the pumpkin.

Step 7

On the remaining 2 cut the vent using a smaller size pumpkin shape cookie cutter.
Step 8

Place them on top of the pumpkins with filling and secure edges using a fork and brush with egg wash.

Step 9
Roll out the remaining pastry again and repeat the process until you run out of pastry.

Step 10
You can cut small pumpkins too using a smaller cookie cutter. For the small pumpkins just place a few pieces of pear filling in the middle and brush the edges with egg wash.

Step 11
Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden.

Step 12

When ready let them cool and enjoy!
