Chicken Yakitori

While traditional Yakitori sauce uses soy sauce, mirin, and rice wine, this recipe uses a more simple sauce recipe and more easily obtainable ingredients. Most Yakitori recipes also only have scallions and meat in however, a more balanced recipe with veggies and rice should give you a healthier and more complete meal.

Grate the ginger, mince the ginger, and whisk together the garlic, ginger, soy sauce, and honey in a bowl.

Cut the chicken, onion, and bell peppers into bite sized pieces.

Place chicken, mushrooms, bell peppers, and onion onto skewers then brush the honey-soy sauce onto the skewers, set aside.

Step 4
Add rice, water, and bouillon to a cooking pot and bring to a boil then reduce to a low-medium heat, place a lid on it and cook until most of the water has been absorbed and the rice is thoroughly cooked. Then turn off heat and let sit until ready to serve.
