Hot milk cake
This is my version of hot milk cake from an old cookbook. It is a dense sponge type cake. It is a small cake. You can make in 2 six inch pans, or a square or round pan. I frosted mine with chocolate sour cream frosting.

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350

Spray pan or pans with baking spray
Step 3
Heat butter and milk in saucepan till just about to boil, set aside
Step 4
Sift together flour, salt and baking powder
Step 5
Set aside
Step 6
Beat eggs till fluffy and light in color, several minutes
Step 7
Add sugar a tablespoon at a time, beating after each addition, about 5 minutes
Step 8
Add vanilla, then pour in milk mixture in a steady stream and beat for a few seconds.
Step 9
Add flour a little at the time till combined, the beat on medium high for a few seconds.
Step 10
Pour into pans and bake 30 to 35 minutes
Step 11
Let cool 10 minutes
Step 12
Take knife around edges and take cake out of pan and let cool completely before frosting
