Easy Chicken Pho ( Pho Ga) | 닭 쌀국수
5 steps
Prep:15hCook:2h
Pho is one of those dishes I crave as frequently as kimchi jiggae, but my korean American ass was hella intimidated by the spices.
Thanks to tiktok I’ve seen enough people do it with leftover chicken…and tbh i can’t be spending 17$ a bowl every time I want pho so I tried it and it..it’s easy..and it worked with my bootleg spices from key foods :’)
Say what you want about tiktok but it’ll probably save me hundreds of monies next year so tiktok skeptists can kiss my star anise

Instructions
Step 1
1. Place roast chicken in the pot and pour enough water to cover it.
Step 2
2. Cut onion and ginger in half. On high heat char the onion and ginger. You can rub off the burnt bits but I didn’t. Toss it in the water.
Step 3
3. Toast the rest of the spices with a little bit on oil (literally a few drops). Toss in a spice bag if you want to ( i didn’t) and toss it in the water.
Step 4
4. Simmer for an hour. Then add the fish sauce and sugar. Simmer for another 2-3 hours. Take out the chicken meat then strain + discard the bones, onion, ginger, and spices. I’d strain the broth twice just in case.
Step 5
5. Soak rice noodles in room temp water for about 10 minutes. Boil until ready. Rinse & place in a bowl, Add jalapeños, Thai basil and bean sprouts if ur adding. Pour the broth over noodles. Eat with sriracha and hoisin 🙂
