Berry Breakfast Shake Bowl

4 steps
Prep:15minCook:2min
This lovely protein shake bowl is a daily recipe for me. It provides you with a balanced mix of protein, healthy fats that fuel your hormones and carbohydrates. Choose a protein powder of your choice, or you can replace with Greek yoghurt to add to this recipe. I choose pulisin protein powder as it's free from carbohydrates (glucose). If you want to encourage Oestrogen then you can use soy protein powder, otherwise, choose another protein powder e.g. whey (milk based), rice, pea or hemp. Note that pulsin is a little chalky and you might want to start with a flavoured protein powder to start with and small quantities (20g). Berries are anti-oxidising ingredients helping remove free radicals from your body. They are also menstruation friendly ingredients which help your hormones throughout your cycle. Feel free to cycle your berries - strawberries, raspberries, blackberries. All are excellent. Flax seed is contains Omega 3, reducing inflammation and encouraging heart health. Flax seed is also Oestrogen promoting, encouraged throughout your cycle. Note that you can replace flax seed with Chia seeds if you'd prefer not to promote Oestrogen. If you find this too watery for your liking, reduce the water content and increase the berry content. Add a banana if it's not sweet enough. You can batch make this for a maximum 2 days.

Instructions

Step 1
Save 60g of blueberries, 60g of strawberries, cocoa nibs, seeds and oats for the topping. If you make this in the evening, you can add the oats to the bowl post blend and have it as overnight oats.
Step 2
Place everything else into a blender and blend for 1 minute until it's a fairly thick mix.
Step 3
Stir in the oats and leave overnight or you can have this immediately. Add the saved 60g of blueberries, 60g of strawberries, seeds and nuts as soluble fibre to the top of the bowl.
Step 4
If you find this too watery, increase the blueberries and decrease the water content
