Instructions

Step 1
Sauté the butter and garlic for one minute. Add the chopped onion and cook for 4 - 5 minutes. Add the sliced ham and cook for another couple of minutes. Place in crock pot. Add the chicken broth, celery, carrots, split peas and bay leaf. Season with pepper. Stir the soup until your split peas are in the desired consistency (the more you stir, the creamier the soup gets). Remove the bay leaf and ham bone (if used) and enjoy.
