Bone Broth (Yakhni)

Here's my everyday bone broth with warm spices to make it super tasty and great for gut health.

Step 1
Wash the bones
Step 2
In a deep pot, dry roast your cumin and coriander seeds until and fragrant, stirring occasionally
Step 3
Then add the rest of the whole spices; star anise, black peppercorns, green cardamom, bayleaf and cinnamon stick. Stir occasionally.
Step 4
After about 1 minute pour in 1 litre water and stir everything together
Step 5
Then add rest of ingredients; garlic, ginger, onion, salt, turmeric, bones. Stir everything.
Step 6
Bring this to a rolling boil on high heat, keep stirring
Step 7
Once it's on a rolling boil for 1 minute, put it on low heat and cover with lid
Step 8
After 1 hour uncover and scrape the sides. If you've washed your bones you shouldn't have any scum, if you haven't then remove the scum

Add 1 litre of water and cover again
Step 10
After 3 hours of when you first started cooking, stir and scrape the sides. Then add 1.5 litre water and cover again

Let this cook on low heat for 6-8 hours in total

Remove the bones and whole spices, then strain

You should have approx 2.75 of bone broth.

Put this in a container and let it cool down

Refrigerate overnight

Following day it should be gelatinous and ready to consume

Transfer portion to a saucepan, heat, serve and enjoy
