Ingredients
2 servings
1 blocksilken tofu
2 stalksgreen onion
thinly sliced, separate white and green parts of the onion
1 Tbspgarlic minced
1red chili pepper
diced
2 Tbspolive oil
or any neutral oil
3 Tbspsoy sauce
1 Tbsprice wine vinegar
1 tspsugar
1 tspKorean red pepper flakes
Gochu-garu"
1 tsptoasted sesame oil
½ tsptoasted sesame seeds
to garnish
Instructions
Step 1
Remove the plastic from the silken tofu container and place 2 sheets of paper towel in its place. Flip the container with the tofu sitting on top of the paper towels so they absorb the liquid.
Step 2
Heat oil in a small saucepan and saute garlic and the white part of the green onions. Once garlic is golden, add red chili peppers and saute for about 2 minutes.
Step 3
Add soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, sugar, and Korean red pepper flakes ("gochugaru"). Bring it all to a simmer then add sesame oil.
Step 4
Gently remove the paper towel from your silken tofu container and flip the tofu onto a plate. Top the tofu with 2-3 spoonfuls of the savory sauce and let it drip down the sides of the tofu.
Step 5
Garnish with the green parts of the green onions and sesame seeds before serving with cooked rice.
