Sweet and Sour Chicken Recipe

The chicken gets very tender with this recipe. Delish.

Added a drizzle of honey each time I stirred while cooking (every 15 mins)

This is a go to meal in our house.

Need to leave the chicken a bit bigger than expected to not have it overcook

To improve - serve with sesame seeds, chilli flakes, spring onion... make or save some of the sauce to serve on top afterwards

Not everybody liked this, but I thought it was very good! My first time making sweet n sour chicken. Served with garlic rice and yeast rolls. Very filling and satisfying.

We only need 3lbs. But do 5by on sauce on cool for 45min

Love it! Agreed with other posters. The recommended time in the oven was too long. Baked mine for 30 mins if not less. I used boneless, skinless chicken thighs (added more seasoning to my chicken), 1/2 cup of sugar and 1/3 cup of vinegar, the remaining measurements for the ingredients stayed the same - and I liked my tweaks.

Will probably use less vinegar next time but other than that very good

Delicious. I pan cooked this all the way through, then simmered in the sauce as opposed to the oven. Very yummy

An excellent recipe, very well received by the family. This tastes very much like the ones you find in a Chinese restaurant. Yes I used the amount of vinegar in the recipe, but I made sure the sauce was well mixed before pouring it over my chicken. I didn't cook the chicken in the oven as long as suggested, but rather for about 30 minutes, stirring after 15 minutes, and I used my cast iron baking dish- they turned out well, and there weren't many leftovers either!

Cook for 30 minutes in oven approximately not an hour

Not bad, not the best. The sauce had large amount of sugar and vinegar.

Had an odd color when cooked. It didn't brown up like it should. I didn't mix the sauce on it, just dipped. The chicken was flavorless. Definitely add seasoning besides salt and pepper.

The outside was crunchy but the chicken was really tough and the sauce was too acidic. It needed more depth to the sauce.

Less rice wine vinegar!
