Instructions
DO THIS THE NIGHT *BEFORE* COOKING
Step 1
Cut Challah bread into 1 inch thick slices. Set the bread out in the open air on a cooling rack so air can reach both top and bottom. (Note: Make sure to do this the night before, so the bread has time to dehydrate and firm up for the custard mixture.)

DO THIS THE DAY OF COOKING
Step 2
Lightly whisk the eggs, milk, sugar, cinnamon, salt and vanilla extract until it’s smooth.

Step 3
Coat the bread slices in the egg mixture until it’s fully absorbed (Hint: flip over every 5 minutes and use a spoon to ladle custard mixture over top of bread until a total time of 20 minutes has elapsed).

Step 4
Once the bread has soaked up the egg mixture, fry it in a pan with 2 teaspoons of salted butter on medium-low heat until golden and crisp on all sides. Flip bread every 4-5 minutes until golden brown and until bread is still yielding to touch, but does not feel soggy or leak out any mixture. Total cook time should be around 15 minutes (give or take a couple of minutes).
(Note: Keep the flame on medium-low or the egg might burn)

Step 5
Plate the french toast, spread a thin layer of the whipped salted butter on top and then sprinkle with powdered sugar

Step 6
Top with sliced bananas and/or strawberries.

Step 7
Serve with syrup and enjoy!
(PS. You may also want to try some whipped cream on top for an extra treat!)
