Instructions

Step 1
To the oil, add cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, tej patta. After a bit, add the onions and fry them nicely. To it, add some green chillies and minced garlic and fry.
Step 2
To the mix, add chopped tomato, salt and a pinch of sugar to neutralise acid and fry. Then, add coriander powder and then a tiny bit of water and continue frying.
Step 3
Now add the boiled rajma along with its water. Cover and cook for half an hour or till it thickens.

Rice

Step 4
Parboil basmati rice with cloves, star anise, tej patta, and drain the little water that is extra.
Step 5
Mix some rice with greek yogurt or coconut milk to create a creamy version.

Assembly

Step 6
Put butter or ghee in a deep dish and layer the rice and yogurt mix at bottom. Add alternate layers of plain rice and rajma like a biriyani.
Step 7
Cover and cook on low heat for 15-20 mins.
