In order to pan fry, preheat pan over medium high heat. Keep burger in fridge until pan is hot. When pan is almost smoking, add a pat of butter to pan until well coated. Place patties and cook for 3-4 mins then flip. Remove pan from heat and add a slice of cheese to each burger. Cover pan to melt cheese.
Medium-rare (warm, red center): six minutes, or 130 to 135°
Medium (warm, pink center): seven to eight minutes, or 140 to 145°
Medium-well (hot, slightly pink center): nine minutes, or 150 to 155°
Well done (brown all the way through): 10 minutes, or 160 to 165°

Instructions
Step 1
Combine seasonings and meat in a bowl.
Step 2
Form into 4 patties, about 1/2" thick. Make a small indent in the middle of the patty with your thumb. Brush patties with barbecue sauce if using.
Step 3
Preheat the air fryer to 370°F. Add patties in a single layer to the basket.
Step 4
Cook 6 minutes. Flip burger over and cook an additional 3-5 minutes or until beef reaches 160°F.
Step 5
Add cheese if using and cook 1 minute more. Serve on buns.
