Instructions
Step 1
Combine warm water, milk, active yeast, and oil. Whisk then let it sit about 5 to 10 minutes.
Step 2
In a bowl combine the flour, sugar and baking powder. Once combined add the liquids and start kneading by hand
Step 3
Knead until soft, smooth and barely sticky (4-5 minutes) then place it back in a bowl to rise for 2 hours
Step 4
Spread the dough out and roll it until less than 1cm thick. Cut rounds with a glass or a mould cutter
Step 5
Spread oil on one side of the circles of dough and fold them on that side. Let them rest and rise for another 30 minutes
Step 6
In a steamer lined with parchment paper steam as you normally would for 13 to 15 minutes and enjoy!
Step 7
For the pork belly (plant based) start by browning it in the pan with some neutral oil. Once halfway cooked, add the mixture of sauces and lower the heat. Cook for 10 minutes. Use this to fill the baos, followed by a lot of coriander, chili and sesame seeds. Enjoy!
