Instructions

Step 1
In a large bowl, add warm water, active dry yeast, and honey. Stir and allow the yeast to bloom.

Once activated, add salt and flour. Stir until the dough sticks to your spatula, then knead for 5-10 minutes.

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it double in size for 60-90 minutes.
Step 4
Punch down the dough and cut into 8 pieces. Shape into bagels.
Step 5
Bring a large pot of water to a boil, add baking soda and honey (if desired), then boil each bagel for 30 seconds on each side.
Step 6
Place boiled bagels on a baking sheet, add toppings, and bake at 425°F for 20-25 minutes or until golden.
